By Nuala Coombs

As a Pilates teacher you are always trying to keep your classes fresh and motivating for your class participants. Constantly coming up with new ideas can be a problem. Use this easy formula to take the hard work out of planning your perfect Pilates classes.

First write down at least 15 Pilates movements that you might want to teach in your session and place them in a container.

Now, give it a good shake. Next just dip in and choose 10 and place them in random order.

Here is the simple formula to put your class together in Ten minutes of less. Check the order of the movements you will teach:

a) Does the order create a class that is a balance of stability, mobility and flexibility challengesb) Are the transitions easy from movement to movementc) Does the plan avoid overload or fatigue in any muscle group

Once you are sure all the criteria have been met you have the outline of your Pilates class, now it just needs refining. You may need to add some releases between certain movements to allow muscles a short recovery time, or you could decide to change the order so that it is more balanced. You may want to add a couple of movements, in which case you just need to make sure they are placed in order to meet the criteria.

This is a really easy way to put together a great Pilates class and it will certainly take the stress out of coming up with new ideas every week.
